Hi from the netherlands
Hello everyone, I already spent a lot of time on the HUBB, so maybe I should introduce myself here.
I live in the Netherlands, where I work as a PhD researcher on satellite navigation. I'm quite new to motorcycling, I got my license last January. In February I bought my motorcycle, a F650GS former police bike. Technical in perfect shape, although optical ...... a lot of damage due to the salt on the roads in winter. The police also uses their bikes in winter. I bought it with a little over 20k kms, currently its just over 40k. Did two trips so far: Northern France and Normandy (3000km) and the Nordkapp (9000+km).
Currently planning some trips, I will decide on which trip I go short before leaving so I can take the trip which will provide the best weather:
* Scotland
* Ukraine
* Egypt
* Spain and possibly Morocco (feb. 2012)
* and more to come
So, if you see the bike from the picture (you can't miss it with its zebra disguise), stop me and say hallo!

Hi BravoLima and welcome.
I will be flying into the Netherlands on the 29th August and will be buying a bike, BMW R1200GS. Not enough time to get mine from Aus to there. I will be travelling around NL, Northern Germany and Southern Denmark for 4 weeks. I will keep an eye out for the Zebra. Maybe we can catch up for a ![beer](https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/images/smilies/beer.gif) tje.
Cheers
Marty

Hi Marty,
How do you plan to buy the 1200gs? At a dealer, or somewhere else? Sometimes you can find good gs's at the website of the BMW GS club (bmwgsclub.nl) if you understand dutch or have a way to translate, it might be useful.
What are your plans for the Netherlands?
Let me know when you are near Delft (where I live), although, probably for Australians everywhere in the Netherlands is close to Delft (small country), then we can catch up for a " ![Bier](https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/images/smilies/beerchug.gif) tje"!
cheers, Barend

Hi Barend
My wife is dutch so she can translate the site. Thanks for that. I plan to buy from a dealer, easier for transfer of ownership. I have been searching the web and have found a lot that will suit. I plan to drive around first looking at the bikes and yes it is a small country so everywhere is close.
If I come through Delft I will certainly look you up.
Cheers
Marty

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
