New to HU

Hey all... just though I should introduce myself.

My name is Brandon. I'm a 29y/o E-5 in the United States Air Force. I'm currently stationed in Biloxi Mississippi... and enjoying the year round riding weather.

I currently ride a 08 Honda 600RR... but will be making another bike purchase in the next year or so. looking at the F800GS...

I love my Honda... but the fun has gone from to as of late on the street. I'm too preoccupied with what's around the next corner... to have any good fun on it anymore.

I still LOVE to ride... but I figure if I'm not gonna be fly'n around on the street... might as well get a bike more conducive to long distances and some fun in the dirt

I've done some long distances on my 600RR and my old ZZr600... and to be honest... the road trips are my favorite part of riding.... just absorbing the land i'm in.

ok... enough of my rambling... here's some pics

Sorry if they're a bit "over done" i'm pretty new to photography... but it's the perfect hobby for a adventure motorcyclist

My previous bike... 05 ZZr600 on my 5000 mile 18 day trip from North Dakota to Florida back up through Tennessee and Indiana for the MotoGP race

The New Bike... 08 600RR

Figure it's time to update this a bit...

I sold the RR in Oct... actually traded it in on a 09 DR-Z400s with 0 miles. I was able to strip all my aftermarket parts off the CBR (which I sold for $2,000) and still trade straight across for the DRZ...

I gotta say I LOVE this bike. much more comfortable for trips than either sport bike (duh) except for the seat(which I'm trying to find a stock one I can try my hand at modifiying)

Here's my DRZ as she sits today,

one of my favorite pics of her... (no comments about not being able to actually see her... LOL)

in the 8 months I've had her she's got just over 14k on her.. She's been through 20 states but alas, not outside the US. I'm hoping to change that soon... ish.

planning a trip on the Trans Labrador Hwy next year (aug or sept ish of 2011) and a trip down to Panama when ever I can get the leave to do it. (my command currently has a ban on travel to-through mexico because of the drug wars... )

Also hope to hit up the Dempster and Dalton Hwys (which will probably happen before ever heading south to Panama)

I've recently started my savings for my RTW trip, which, save an un expected marrage and even more unexpected child,(single and VERY HAPPY) will be happening when I retire from the Military in 2022 or 2024. I'm hoping to have 30-50k saved by then, and with my Military pension of 1-2k a month (depending on what rank I retire at) plan on a 4-5 year trip around the world...

then I MAY re enter society as a walmart greeter

Just as a tip: Resizing your images to a smaller size is usually a good idea before posting them, that way the page will remain readable even on smaller screens like you have on a notebook.

Pages like imageshack.us can do this automatically for you.

Nice ride by the way!

hopefully that worked... sorry about that... can't actually view my photos from work so I was using a link from another site, forgot I'd put the larger size there.

thanks!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
