Searching for a Free Garmin map of Australia
I have recently purchased a Garmin nuvi 215 and I am going on holiday to Australia in 2 weeks time. I have been searching everywhere for a free map of Australia and have been unsucessful and it's driving me crazy. I am working on an Apple Mac and had no problem downloading a map for New Zealand but for the life of me cannot find one that works on a Mac for Oz. If anyone acan please please help me out I would appreciate it.

BUT .. T4A is not 'route-able', as far as I'm aware.
If it's route-able road maps you're after, then you might need to bite-the-bullet and buy a copy of Garmin CityNav Australia /NZ 2010. The best deal I could find at the time (a couple of months back) was from this aussie dealer: Johnny Appleseed GPS .. OR, I guess you could always take your chances with one of the many Torrent sites (I wouldn't though!).
Note: I work with a PC + Zumo. Dunno what the situation would be with a Mac + nuvi.
Have a good time down under anyway.
Cheers
KEITH

Great maps for free
Hi Colin
I'm currently on a road trip since 9 month. The first part I used the latest version of Garmin Worldmap. It was quite okay, but not great at some times (in Mongolia for example...)
Lately that changed. I met a biker who gave me the link to a fantastic website where you can get detailed maps for free. Just click on the regions you need, add your e-mail address and wait for the file to arrive.
I can tell you, the maps are just great. We arrived to Bangkok and the (routable) GPS just told me the exact way how to get to our hotel. What a difference to Garmin's Worldmap!
Here's the link: Worldwide routable Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
