16 inch tires?
Hi all,
Heading to South East Asia soon. My bike takes 120-90/16 rear tires. Are these available in Thailand/Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam/Malaysia?
If not, what's involved with sending one there? Customs wise I mean?

There are at least some bikes that uses the 16' rear wheels and tires around there. The Kawasaki Klx 150 is around even though not a lot in some of these countries and is set up with 19' front and 16' rear wheels. Although the newer models have 21 and 18.
The Honda Ax 1 (similar to the Honda NX250) is still around as rentals in Chiang Mai (although almost conquered by the Crf) and the Ax 1 is also set up with 19' front and 16' rear.
So considered this I belive it should be possible to purchase a 16' rear tyre with the dimensions you mention in SEAsia.
Importing motorbike parts to Thailand will in most cases give you an extra tax of 30-35 % (cant remember the exact number) to upon taking it out of the post office. But as you might know - in these places of the world strange things can happen, you might even not have to pay the tax.

If nothing else, you can get a local Thai brand vee-rubber do a 120/90/16 off-road, the VRM-163 which is around 1,100B.
When you say, 'import' .. its very likely that if you use the postal service for mail order, that will slip through any import charges. If you use DHL, UPS, etc, expect to pay some tax.
What do you normally favour ?
If you have a smart phone/tablet, most Thai bike businesses use LINE messenger, so rather than worry about being understood, write a quick message and you will usually get a quick reply.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
