Bangkok and the 7 hour customs ordeal
Just arrived in Bangkok yesterday. Picked the bikes up on the same day we arrived as we had flown them from kathmandu the day before. We arrived at 1pm and by 1:30 were working on getting the bikes. About an hours hassle sorting out paperwork and then we were finally allowed to see the bikes again.
Still lovingly crated we paid 100 bhat to a guy to rip the boxes apart and to help with lifting etc and by about 3 or 4pm the bikes were back together and we were ready to go and just had to wait for the all clear from customs. 5pm, still sitting in the cargo bay sweating, 6pm... and on and on and on. Customs was supposed to have closed by now but were staying open for us (and wanted us to pay overtime) In the end some kid started doing the paperwork for us, didnt ask just did it. I had given up by this point as was playing counterstrike in the warehouse office and Graham was smoking his way through a 20 pack.
so finally, at about 8pm the kid comes back and says everything is sorted, he wants 2000 Bhat, he gets 200. And we are on our way.
So yeah, bikes back and a new personal record on counterstrike.... all in all a good days work
Ride safe,
Ol
