Hello,
the battery from my Honda Africa Twin died after the shipping from indonesia to calcutta.
Now i try to find a new one, which is quiet difficult.
The original Brand is: YUASA
Type: YTX 14-BS
12 V 12 Ah
Do someone has an idea ore address in india. I tried already Lalli Singh in Delhi.
Thank's for help

If you are in Delhi, you could try KRP (Kaulsons racing products), situated at Naraina.

In a pinch you could try and see if a 12V 9Ah battery works as a stopgap measure. Readily available, about 1100INR. OEM fitment for the pulsars, and a host of other 150cc bikes.

The other common size here is 12V 14Ah, but check the dimensions - besides, this is not so readily available as not many bikes use it here.

Battery

I once had the battery fail on an AfricaTwin in north Thailand, cant understand how, but one of the terminals came loose on the inside, so it was gone. I went to a scooter shop and they managed to get a replacement which wasnt the same as original.. im 90% sure that it was 12V 9Ah, it was a for a scooter anyway. Sorry I cant be positively sure about this, as its been a few years, but that replacement worked perfectly well for my return to Bangkok.

BTW, may I ask about your shipping from indonesia to calcutta.. im planning to go from India to Thailand later this year, and trying to find out about the shipping options (possibly to Malaysia or Indonesia, too). What company did you use, how long it took you, any big trouble with paperwork, etc.. and I assume you flew yourself, right? Any info on that would be much appreciated as well! Pekka

Thumbs up

Hi KP,

How are things going? Do you remember our time on the Islamabad campground? We wonder if you are still carrying your guitar on the Africa Twin...

Regarding the battery you could contact our good friend Bunny in Delhi. He is a great guy and always happy to meet overlanders. I think he is listed in the HU community but I will send you his address by e-mail.

Good luck and please drop by whenever you come to Vienna.

Hanka & Erik

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
