Big plans for Asian Highways
I have just been reading about new plans for road improvements accross Asia. They sound interesting...
"One of the world's most ambitious road maps was approved in Shanghai yesterday when China, Japan and South Korea agreed plans for an 87,500-mile network of motorways, bridges and ferry routes connecting Asia and Europe.
Beginning with Asian Highway One, which will link Tokyo to Istanbul, it aims to create a modern version of the Silk Road, the camel route by which the occident and orient once traded with one another."

Now if only they get rid of the paper chase aswell. I wonder how long before we can make use of "the new silk road"

Dunno about spoiling the adventure, if the was the size of a Heathrow runway it would be better having to become an investment banker before paying for a trip thro China.
Suppose I just live on the wrong side of the border.
Maybe manage to get in there this september. After reading the webpages of the Germans on XT's in China, I feel inspired to try the truck smuggling trick ;-) Might get to see you in the pub after all Butch.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
