Eagle Export
Hey guys,
Success! Turned out the tricky part for me was getting the bike back in BKK but only because it arrived late Friday evening.
Here is what happened with me:
Emailed around lots of places to get prices. Was contacted again by Suraj and Isowar from New World who were both enthusiastic for business but in the end was offered a fantastic deal from Suraj. Reading what’s written here I wasn't certain about this but as it turned out Suraj provided and excellent service, was friendly and professional.
Meeting him at his office close to the Katmandu guest house he asked his carpenter to come and we measured the bike, then re-measured it trying hard to get it as tight as possible to save on weight and their advice on this was helpful.
The following day the crate was built and on the next day I went to the office, got various documents photocopied then rode to the airport with Suraj's brother who had his own bike. Everything was ready when we arrived, rode onto the palate and with a whole team of people (possibly a couple to many) we used my tools to disassemble the handle bar assembly, remove the front wheel, wind shield etc. Then we tied and ratchet strapped (bring your own) bike and boxes down. Next the sides where nailed on the box and thick metal straps bound it together. Was solidly and professionally done and I was quite happy the crate was tough enough but as light as they could have made it.
Next the crate was x-rayed (got a sneaky photo) and Suraj's brother began running around doing the paper work. I wandered with him being interested in how the whole process works. Then he rode me back into town on his bike and went off to the Thai Airways Office to do more paper work. The whole process was smooth, efficient and with minimum hassle.
The only 'mishap' in the whole process was when I realised how much a crate is likely to weigh. When asking for quotes I had told each courier my Transalp weighed about 202kg plus panniers, tent etc should be about 240ish. All had quoted me with the correct Thai Airways prices for this weight but no one mentioned that a crate would come it at around 50kg on its own. Although it wasn't mentioned by email Suraj did tell me on my first visit to his office and was assiduous in his efforts to maintain transparency in the whole procedure afterwards.
I had a couple of lovely meals with Suraj and on my last evening in Katmandu he took me to his house for a meal. I had a great time paying with his kids, eating Thali and talking life, politics and worries in Nepal. All in all it was a lovely way to finish off my time in a beautiful country 
Lessons learnt: Shop around, fly by weight and don't forget the weight of a crate!

shipping bike from Nepal
Hey guys here is some information of airfreight our bike from Nepal.
After roaming around for quote in Thamel we decided to do it with Eagle Export(eagleandsunnepal@gmail.com).His main argument was hardly beatable price.No other company give us such a quote.Not only shipping he also guide us the places to visit.
First day Suraj(  ),owner of the company came in our hotel with his carpenter,measure bike and gave order for crate..Second day we went to airport to fixed bike in crate.It takes 2-3 hours.First, we have to do is front wheel off ,resemble the tire air pressure approxmitely (15 to 20%)Disconnect the battery, and empty the tank (only in reserve) because Bike is represented as Dangerous Goods.All process straight forward.No problem.
One important information,they will charge by Real weight or volumetric weight whichever is higher.

Hey Django!
I've actually come from Bangkok.. I'm heading west towards the UK!
Enjoy Thailand and Sth East Asia!.. so much easier as far as paperwork goes OHMYGOSH 
My current plan is to go from Nepal to India to Pakistan and then north to China and into the stans... am really not sure what I'll be doing if the problems in northern Pakistan are still present in 5 weeks or so.. trying to work some ideas out at the moment..
So far I'm thinking..
..into Pakistan and head west into Iran (something I didn't really want to do)
..into India and then down to Mumbai and ship out to Iran or UAE or Turkey
...... not sure lol

I freighted a BMW F800GS and the cost was around 900USD. From Eagle Export next to Kathmandu guest house the owner is Suraj Dhakal.

Exceptional service
Hi
We have also just flown our bikes from Nepal to Thailand using Eagle Export. Right from the first day we got there, they were fantastic. Before the first day was up they had the bikes measured, next day the crates were done. Next day was shipping, and we were in Thailand the day after that. The crates were far superior to what we had used going from Egypt to Istanbul, and about half the price when it came to the final volumetric weight compared to that previous shipping. Get in touch with Mr Suraj Dhakal if you are needing to do any shipping from Kathmandu, we couldn't have had a better experience!

Kathmandu to UK by Air
Hi Everyone
Just want to give a thumbs up  for Eagle Export in Kathmandu (Next to the Kathmandu Guest House) who shipped 2 Tenere's back to the UK for us.
Suraj gave us good attentive service, at what we thought was a fair price and arranged air our air line tickets at a price that was competitive with an online booking service.

Shipping bike from Kathmandu to Bangkok
Arriving in Ktm gives you a lot of options to look for Cargo. After looking at some options we were pleased to meet the people from Eagle export. When it comes to shipping your bike to Bangkok ( or else) Suraj has the answer for al your questions. Good prices, good service, no extra paperwork and a friendly service. We shipped two bikes and we got a perfect service.

The next year, during my Round The World, I'll fly with my bike from Kathmandu to Bangkok.
I examined the various couriers mentioned in HU, and comments on the one you mentioned are not good. In any case, by comparing the various offerings, the one you quoted was the most expensive.
I therefore chose another.

Expensive is the one that costs more than we can afford.
Can not be said that a transport is costly in absolute.
€ 1,000 for a "normal" bike of 200 kg can be many, may be few for a bike of 470 kg as my Gold Wing 1500.
The transport apparently less "expensive", became the most expensive if you lose 2 days (for me, time is very valuable, because in 2 days I can go 2,000 kilometers or ... stay 2 more days with my family).
For this flight, the estimates were $ 787 (I chose this) to € 1,000 euro.
