I'm doing at the moment a motorcycle of 20 months and I recently had to send my bike by plane from Kathmandu in Nepal to Bangkok in Thailand. I would like to share my experience.

The sending by air from Nepal to Thailand is a classic, you will find in Kathmandu two companies: Eagle Eyes Export and Eagle Export. Both companies are in the same street in the tourist district of Thamel.
After contacted them by email, I quickly received a detailed response from the 2 companies.

The estimates were similar, although Eagle Export was slightly cheaper. I visited the two companies and finally opted for Eagle Export.

Eagle Export is managed by Suraj, a man who worth to be known and who speaks a perfect English. Very quickly and without wooden language, he answered all my questions about the shipment and especially the price. No charges have been hidden and everything has been clearly explained.

Eagle Exports handles everything with an impressive professionalism.
The shipment is organized as follows:

1) Accurate measurement of the dimensions of the motorcycle
2) Estimation of the shipping price and choice of a date
3) A few days later, you go to the cargo area of the airport, the various parts of the box were ready. Within 2 small hours, the motorcycle was crated (every centimeter has been removed to reduce the volume of the box). The paperwork has been handled in parallel and the customs came to check everything.
4) The bike is gone at the due date without any concern

Everything has been done quickly and without a hitch. It was clear that the team was used to do it.

Suraj has even managed my flight ticket. I tried by myself to find the most attractive price but he offered me an even more competitive ticket.

But what is even more awesome with Eagle Export is that the service does not stop with the shipment of the motorcycle. You really create links!

Suraj offered me quickly his generous hospitality. I slept several nights in his house in the north of Kathmandu where I met his adorable family. I have been invited to eat many times and enjoyed his valuable tips to explore the city. He even helped me to organize the rest of my trip. Suraj is very generous and always responds positively when you ask for his help.

My bike is a BMW 700GS, the weight of the sending was 363 Kgs and it cost me about 600 euros.

J’effectue à l’heure actuelle un tour du monde à moto de 20 mois et dans le cadre de celui-ci j’ai été amené à envoyer ma moto par avion de Kathmandu au Népal à Bangkok en Thaïlande. Je souhaiterais vous faire part de mon expérience.

L’envoi par avion du Nepal à la Thaïlande est un classique et beaucoup le savent, à Kathmandu 2 sociétés se partagent le marché. Il s’agit de Eagle Export et de Eagle Eyes Export. Ces deux sociétés se trouvent dans la même rue du quartier touristique de Thamel.
Après les avoir contacté par email, j’ai très rapidement reçu une réponse détaillée des 2 sociétés.

Les devis étaient similaires, bien que Eagle Export soit légèrement moins cher. Je me suis rendu au sein des deux sociétés et est finalement opté pour Eagle Export.

Eagle Export est géré par Suraj, un homme qui vous le coup d’être connu et qui parle un parfait anglais. Très rapidement et sans langue de bois il a répondu à toutes mes questions concernant l’envoi et surtout le prix. Aucun frais n’a été caché et m’a été clairement expliqué.

Eagle Exports s’occupe de tout avec un professionnalisme impressionnant.
L’envoi s’est organisé de la façon suivante :

1) Mesure précise des dimensions de la moto
2) Estimation du prix d’envoi et choix d’une date
3) Quelques jours plus tard, rendez-vous à la zone cargo de l’aéroport, les différentes parties de la caisse étaient toutes prêtes. Il a suffit de 2 petites heures pour que la moto soit mise en caisse (aucun centimètre pour réduire le volume de la caisse n’a été épargné), pour que la paperasserie administrative soit gérée en parallèle et que les douanes viennent vérifier le tout.
4) La moto est partie à la date prévue sans aucun souci

Tout s’est déroulé rapidement et sans accros, le tout dans la bonne humeur. On voit très vite que l’équipe a l’habitude. Ils sont rôdés.

Suraj s’est même occupé de mon billet d’avion. J’avais pourtant cherché par moi même le prix le plus intéressant, il m’a proposé un billet encore plus compétitif.


Mais ce qui est encore plus génial avec Eagle Export c’est que le service ne s’arrête pas à l’envoi de la moto. Vous créez vraiment des liens !

Suraj m’a très vite offert une généreuse hospitalité. J’ai ainsi dormi plusieurs nuits au sein de sa maison au nord de Kathmandu où j’ai côtoyé son adorable famille. J’ai été invité à manger à de nombreuses reprises et ai pu bénéficier de conseils précieux pour découvrir la ville et même organiser la suite de mon voyage. Suraj a le cœur sur la main et répondra toujours positivement lorsque vous lui demandez son aide.

Ma moto est une BMW 700GS, l’envoi faisait 363 Kgs et m’a coûté environ 600 euros.

I am also with my F800 is KTM at the moment and want to shop to Thailand.
Could you please briefly explain me, how to proceed once you arrive in Thailand to get the bike out of customs ?

Hi!

For your bike in Thailand it will be quite easy and take approximately 1 day.
You will first have to go to the cargo section of the airport. There is a shuttle from the airport to the cargo section. Ask to the staff they will help you. Of course there is also a lot of taxis.
In the cargo station you will first have to go to the entrance. You will have to give your passport, fill a form and pay something like 30 baths. They will give you a ticket.
You need to go after to the office of Thai airways (I think you used this company to send your bike). They are very helpful and will explain you everything. Ask for their office.
You will have to fill different forms, photocopies etc... and go after to the customs office (yes you will walk a lot) where they will also have to fill a lot of documents.

When I did it for my motorcycle I didn't know what to do so I've been directly to the customs and they started the process before I go to Thai airways. Maybe it helped to do it that way, it was probably quicker.

With all the documents you will finally take your motorcycle, the customs will look at the different numbers on the bike and that's it!

Thailand doesn't use the 'Carnet de passage en douane' but it was still useful to have it. If you need to eat there is a very good and very cheap cafeteria inside the cargo section. You need to buy tickets with some points on it, and you can buy food or drinks with the points.
