Cambodia: Highway 78 between Stung Treng and Ban Lung is all paved now
Just a heads up, since we were warned even in Stung Treng: we did it yesterday and the road between Stung Treng and Ban Lung in northern Cambodia is all paved now, from door to door. There's some very heavy logging going on close to Stung Treng and what seemed like rubber plantations from afar (couldn't get any closer due to heavily guarded side roads with security checkpoints that wouldn't let us pass). The road starts a few kilometers south of Stung Treng and is signposted. There's one single intersection where you have to turn right (going from ST to BL), after that it's straight directly to Ban Lung. Took us about three hours, with two short breaks.
Must be brand new, on some bits there was still some heavy machinery on the side of the road. That said it's also the most boring ride around here - there's absolutely nothing to see in between.
