Hi Tim,
We've just left Malaysia using a carnet. There was no reference to the bike in the passport.

We crossed in January from Thailand on the Lebuhraya motorway, and no-one gave a rats a__ about the bike. We actually had to walk up and find the customs office, only then we got the carnet stamped. The officer who stamped it never got up from his seat, so never even saw the bike...
Dont know, if no entry stamp on the carnet would give you trouble when exiting the country, though... (and I also did not get anything about the bike put into my passport.)

We are in Malaysia now.
Entered through Georgetown, Penang on a passenger ferry.
The bike came the next day through Butterworth.
No reference to the bike in our passports.
Zero.

left mine in Malaysia
I've just left mine in M'sia, so it'll be collecting dust for a few months till I come back to do the 2nd leg run beg. Jan 09. If you find yourself a safekeeping place it should be OK (I'll see how it'll go for mine later).
maybe see you on the road
