Getting nervous about closed borders to India
I'm leaving Europe for India in 80 days from now.
It's about the time to get the CDP and visas arranged.
Unfortunately the Indian Embassy Website ( https://eoivienna.gov.in/) still states:
Quote:
Such foreign nationals shall be permitted to enter India by either Sea route or by flights and will not be permitted to enter through land LCPs(Land Check Posts).
|
My understanding is, at the moment it is no problem to get from Europe all the way Pakistan (see also: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...423#post624340).
Are there any ferries (let's say to Mumbai) I could take to get me and my bike to India?
Cheers,
Wauschi
P.S.: Plan B is to go to Mongolia...

No ferries to India. You could probably ship from Karachi to Mumbai, but it actually may be less hassle from Dubai. You are correct in saying that you can get to Pakistan without issue. A lot can happen while you are on the road. Will Wagah open? Who knows. Options are your friend.

The site https://www.ferrylines.com/ seems to list all major ferry routes. There's no connection to or from India, which I simply just can't belive.
Plan B would be to fly the motorcycles. Which isn't straight forward either....
Is there anyone else trying to get to India this spring?

I'm also hoping to set off UK-India early March.
Will borders be open?
I have two balls, neither of them are crystal balls.

Sure, but where's THE point? Couldn't find a ferry so far.

Itchy Boots had to fly her Royal Enfield Himalayan from India to the UAE as there was no obvious route avaiable.

Your best bet is Dubai to Mumbai. There are no ferries to India.

Does anyone have any updates on this?
I set off next week from UK to India I have a Pakistan visa and thats it! Iran is proving difficult but possible. My concern is that I need to get to India. I may have to fly over Iran to Pakistan but I am them concerned about getting stuck in Pakistan if the land border remains closed.
Otherwise my only option is to fly over both Iran and Pakistan which starts to make the "overland trip" a little less overland!
From looking at India visa portal it states the border is only closed for tourist visa? I wonder if its possible to get a business visa which will then allow border access?

I heard of one guy making it from India to Pakistan.
Not heard of anyone to India.
Looks like we're ahead of you doing almost the same trip.
If they're not opening soon I'll run into trouble.
Greetings from Iran
Wauschi

Hello, Glad you made it to Iran well. I hope to be there mid July. Good luck crossing into Pakistan. Keep us posted on your trip. Be interested hearing how you get on into India.
I have family there so am making some enquiries into a business visa which I believe will allow a land crossing. I'll keep you posted.
Hope you are enjoying Iran. I hope I can get in.
