Going into Singapore? Don't get caught out!
Hello All,
Having reached the 30th and last country on our journey from the UK to Singapore I was rather upset yesterday to have to do a U turn at the singapore customs and go back to Malaysia.
Singapore does use the Carnet syatem, however you also require an International Circulation Permit (ICP), which I was unaware of. This can be purchased at the following office;
Automobile Association Singapore
336 River Valley Road
03-00
Singapore
To attain this you will have to leave your bike in Malaysia, go into Singapore collect the document, return to Malysia and then bring your bike in with the Carnet, and do not forget the Autopass.
I have left my bike with Malaysian customs because I am only here for two days. I tried every plea but they don't bend rule in the chewing gum free state!

Turned around because of that in 2006, too.
That nice lady of that road something office even tried to charge me 2.3 Singapore $$ for me using roughly 20 meters of Singapore roads between the immigration booth and the custom office. Of course I did not have Singapore $$ and they do not have an ATM or an exchange office at the border, so they wanted me to get into town somehow (of course without motorbike - and no busses, no taxis at the border crossing), get some money, come back, pay those 2 $$ before getting out...
Luckily, two young immigration officers argued on my behalf...

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
