East Timor on Saturday
My bike is on the boat from Darwin to East Timor, I'll be following it on Saturday. If there's any one around Indo between there and Malaysia, it would be good to meet up.
I'll be getting a 60 day visa, but I hope to get through much quicker.
My email is tpwalker@mac.com

Malacca ferry
Good luck with the ferry - when we crossed a coulpe of years ago it was passenger only from Malacca - Dumai...
You can ship your bike seperately to Dumai from a place about 20Km north, check our entry in the shipping pages

biking in Indonesia.. BEWARE
Have just arrived on the ferry in Dumai from Malaka and the police have impounded my bike! Having read Chris's report I was going to miss the police station but customs would not stamp my carnet and rang the police to where I was escorted.
I am trying to contact another office after the weekend and see if there is some way I can get out of this without going back to Melaka. It seems that the prob is the Dumai police. Maybe I can get in from Penang but of course I will lose my 60 day visa if I leave now and it is all extra expense.
Will keep you posted
Linda

Linda, please keep us updated on what happened. Were you able to "work something out" with the police?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
