Iran - Guide Necessary? Alternatives? October/Nov 13
Hi All,
Have been planning on crossing Iran in October / November 2013. From Turkey to Pakistan, on a UK Passport, heading for India.
Started to organise visas yesterday (8/7/13), Spoke to thevisamachine, persianvoyages and another one I can't remember.
All informed me that it is posssible to travel in Iran with your own vehicle. However a guide is now mandatory. This is due to the July elections.
They advised a guide would be about 80usd / day (all covered).
I was hoping to spend a little while in Iran (6 weeks ish) as its a country I've been looking forward to visiting most. But at that price it won't happen!
They said this rule could possibly be lifted, but they didn't know when.
The final destination is India, sooooooooooo options? not really any way round? Syria out of the question, Egypt not looking too healthy. And already been to WAfrica twice... what are 'the stans' like in the spring / winter? Oh and was planning to travel in a Citroen C15 van.
Thanks,
Chris
