If anyones done the trip before, how long did it take you and how much money did you need.

Dont think Iran is Iraq! Iran has fantastic sites and warm generous people and was undoubtably one of the highlights of my trip. For a country that has endured economic sanctions since 1979 you will be surprised at the ability of people to separate the actions of governments from the actions of individuals. You will meet lots of people on the Europe Asia route if your wanting to meet other travellers. After months where i met one other international biker ( in Almaty) I ran into a carpark full of foreign bikes in Esfahan. Ancient cities and cool caravanserais. If your going that way enjoy the 6 cents a litre petrol and easy camping to have a good look around...OK so there is no grog but you wont be there forever.

My question is Why Perth???

You could try the www.africa-overland.net website and go to the Australia / asia section. There is plenty of information on the websites and also contact email addresses.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
