Mumbai Garage
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of a good/reliable garage to take my Suzuki DL650 to in Mumbai? We are planning to be there in a few weeks and we need a few things done, a good look over the bike, a problem where it cuts out every so often looked at and someone to check over the suspension and the valve spacing.
Thanks,
Christopher

Sorry I cant help you with possible service places in Mumbai... I did tour India with a DL650 last year, and it certainly did not seem like there would be many places, where you could get much model-specific work done for any big bike, unless it´s an Enfield. But if there are any such places, Mumbai or Delhi would be the two best bets, where to try finding them... still forget about them having any diagnosis systems for FI!
But what I can try to do for you, if you want, is ask a couple of Suzuki-workshops over here, who I think are pretty good in what they do, about the problem with cutting off. In order to do that, I would need an exact description of the problem, and the details of your bike as well.
One tip for Mumbai: it may cost a bit, but do book your accommodation well in advance, or in any case, don´t just pop up at 5 p.m., cos you may have serious trouble finding any place to stay, at any price. We went around Thane and the area near the airports, being stuck in the insane traffic jams for hours, before we could literally find one room available, and it was criminally overpriced, too. That was around the beginning of December (-07) so I dont know, maybe we were there at worst possible time.

There are a couple of places that deal/maintain imports, I'll ask around and get the numbers.

India - Biker Site
I recently discovered this Indian biker site: .:xbhp: The Global Indian Biking Community:.
One of the members mentioned my BLOG and book on the site, hence my discovering it. Nice, polite guys, very welcoming. Made me want to tour India this coming winter (09/10). I am certain that you will get good advice on mechanics, etc, from members.
Cheers...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
