Places to get parts in South East Asia?
Hello,
we are going to travel on a Honda Transalp 600 ccm overland from Australia to Europe. Could anyone recommend particular places in South East Asia where to get parts (21'/17'-tyres, chain, sprockets) for this kind of bike?
Thanks for any advise.

Thanks for this - unfortunately it seems like we are going to skip Singapore. How about Malaysia, Indonesia or Thailand?

We ride Honda bikes (600 Shadows) and had no trouble getting parts in Thailand. There are some very good Honda Dealers there. Especially in Bangkok and also Chaing Mai in the north. Not sure on the availablility of parts for your bike but if all else fails DHL are very useful. But you need someone at home to purchase and send the parts for you. A friend had parts sent from Germany to Katmandu this way. We had parts sent from Australia to Islamabud. Took only a few days.
Costs more that way but hey, you cant carry a spare of everything. Perhaps we will meet up somewhere on the road, as we set out again soon.

Hi Hanka & Erik,
Parts for Transalp can be found in most major cities in Malaysia. Just ask around and I'm sure people will gladly help.
Good Luck!
Norman

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
