I was there in February, and there was a big bike shop on the main road (dual lane) from Kuta/airport to Denpasar, some 2kms towards Denpasar, after you exit Kuta and get on this big road (sorry I dont have a map at hand now, and cant remember the name of the street or the shop itself)...

Anyway its on your right hand side, a couple hundred meters before a big junction as you ride towards Denpasar. Maybe Carrefour was near it, but this one Im not 100% sure if I remember correct...

A lot of expats gathered there Friday evenings, they might know where to get tyres. Hope this is of any help!

Hey buddy
hope you'll manage to get a tire in Bali. There are no bike shops for big bikes all the way up to Malaysia...

We're still in Penang will head to Kuala Lumpur in the next few days.

Take care and best regards from Ruthie

Claudio

Skip, if you don't get anywhere please email me. I have a lead, but it's not appropriate to publish here.

Cheers,
Peter.

Smile Heading on

Hi Peter
No i've had no joy with a back tyre but i think i can make mine last to Malaysia, i
will be stopping in Jakarta, Java so i can check there as well. I don't want to hang around in Bali any long as i will be losing days off my visa. Have you still got your DR650? cheers Skip

Hi Skip

Get whatever spares you need for the DR in Singapore as I didn't find anything further north in KL or Bangkok. So that means oil filters, brake pads, cables, tires etc, basically anything you think you'll need really. I didn't look in KL for tires but you should get something there. If not, there is a place in Bangkok called 'Paddock' where you can get tires for the DR. I got a Metzler Endureo for mine there.

Hi Skip,

Yes, I'm still riding my DR, but not very often. It's monsoon season now. You can get tyres in Malaysia and in Thailand in any place where lots of tourists hang out. I'll dig out the phone number of a contact I was given for Jakarta. He should see you right, so you don't have to cut short your stay in Indo. I was told it is normally possible (although not legal...) to extend visas several times in Indo.

Cheers,
Peter.

Tyre in Jakarta

Skip,

Sorry I missed yoir post. I could have pointed you in the right direction in Bali.
If you are going through Jakarta there is a KTM dealer there called Hotpipes. They have Metzlers etc.
