Shipping Malaysia to Borneo or Indonesia (Java) to Borneo
Hi we are planning to drive our 4x4 through Malaysia and Indonesia, we would like to ship our vehicle over to Borneo.
Does anyone know whether this is possible from either Malaysia or Java ?
Many thanks

There is a car ferry between Pontianak and Jakarta and Surabaya. There should be another topic about this elsewhere. These people, among others, took it.
Cakra Shipping in Penang told us that they ship "Landrovers" to Belawan/Sumatra. Again, you will find the contact details in another post.
Make sure to get your 2-month Indo visas in Malaysia.

A friend of mine has just done it about three months ago. I'm trying to get in touch with him. I'll get the info in a couple of days if you're not in too much of a hurry...

Just found another recommendation here: javascript :chargerPage('CarnetRouteMenuEN.php','Ma laysia.php?lang=EN') for shipping in a container from KL to Belawan. They were very happy with the service and being a container shipment I guess they might be able to go to other places as well (Borneo?). The co. is called Aseantex.

Still can't find info on Jakarta->Pontianak
Hi all,
Somebody (Beddhist?) up there wrote "There is a car ferry between Pontianak and Jakarta and Surabaya. There should be another topic about this elsewhere. These people, among others, took it."
I can't seem to find that topic anywhere!
Anyway, I'd like to get my small-cc bike on that ferry from Jakarta to Pontianak, 3-5 days from now. Anybody know where I should look into the logistics? An Indonesian friend tells me there was some trouble with that boat recently, but I'm not sure if we're even talking about the same line or what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the thread he's talking of would be the Indonesian Ferrys Thread.
I admit, the title is very very very unspecific
On useful company would be found here: PT. Dharma Lautan Utama| armada pelayaran nasional
Took their boat to Sulawesi, nice boat, fairly cheap, meals were not too bad. They have a lot of places in Borneo. But I think they don't run from jakarta. But Semarang, Surabaya and the rest.
