TITH 2004 "Highway to Hell"
G'Day,
find some pictures uploaded from Red Devils MC Shanghai Thunder in the Hills 2004 "Highway to "Hell" at
http://photos.yahoo.com/reddevilsshanghai
quite an adventure again heading north from Chengdu to Lanzhou via Songpan, Jiuzhaigou, Langmusi (stuck in snow) and heading to Lanzhou, mostly on pot-holed gravel / dirt / mud roads.
due to the very bad road conditions, snow delay and various bike breakdown
/ repairs we got diverted to Langmusi (Tibetean Plateu) and could visit
various monasteries and the rare skyburial sites in the mountains surrounding Langmusi.
not yet the "Top of the World Tour" but we felt like being there and we ould
almost see it from....
Best Regards, Seeya in the pub or on the road somewhere.....

Was the skull just lying along the roadside? Reminds me of a bus trip from Chengdu to Litang, the hillsides litterred with blue metal from crashed "Dong Fengs". cool.

G'Day,
no, the skull/body pictures were taken at a Tibetan Sky Burial site located in the mountains surrounding Langmusi.
regards,

Excellent photo collection Butch. Looks like an adventure and what a collection of bikes.
A couple of questions ... Did you ride all the way from Shanghai and truck them back? Do you have many police checks looking at documents etc. and do they pay more interest to the paper work because you are foriegn?
Another general question about riding in China, when stopped by the police is there a chance of talking your way thro it, perhaps with a tip, or are they very strict?
Got to go there.

G'Day,
its a bit different for us since we all live/work in China and our bikes already in the country and properly registered in China and we all have PRC green cards (foreigners resident permits / workpermits) and Chinese Driving License.
our club has his own 40ft. container since years with appropriate frames to secure 12 bikes and store all the gear. we usually ship the bikes via container to our starting point and the truck with our container is waiting at the destination to be loaded with the bikes and gear and returns to Shanghai.
we (RDMC Shanghai) do not have much problems since we have the right Chinese paperwork and of course helps a lot speaking the language!!

best regards, seeya in the pub or on the road somewhere...
