These guys allready had there online-reference code, but didn´t get the visa: Entering Iran with own vehicle - Iran Message Board - TripAdvisor And they mention furthermore, that they would have needed a airplaine ticket to get the visa.

Here is the official information provided by the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran given to me by a reliable source (Stantours):
Important Note 2: the Foreign Affair has strongly suggested that all Tourists Traveling to Iran come By air not land. This is applicable for the time being till end of June. In case you want to come by land please make changes in your program and let us know to proceed.
Important Note 3: Foreign Affair has advised to avoid traveling in May 22 till 21 June.in case of arriving in this period, it may come to being deported.
Important Note 4: all motor cycle and Bikes which want to cross the border before this date should be in the form of a guided tour, after June conditions may change and back to normal.
Important Note 5: if you insist on coming May 22 to June 21, please mention exactly the reason and give us your exact program, the Foreign Affair will decide on that.
I am planning to try entering Iran on a motorcycle in a few days at Essendere and I would be interested by real cases. Concretely, has anyone actually entered by bike or motorcycle or has been rejected at an Iranian border in 2013?

Also today I had this email from Iranianvisa.com after asking them if my code was stil valid
'The corresponding rules are changing so fast that vaguely, that we don’t dare to give a definite answer to these questions.
We are now hearing reports from clients who have even collected their visas, but are informed by the consulates that their visas are void.'
Hope thus helps

I've arrange for Holidays in Iran | Iran Tours | Uzbekistan Holiday | Persian Voyages to handle my visa application for my motorcycle and I. I'm an American so I need a guide as well as a carnet to enter the country. PVs handles the guide too @$165 a day. I'm in Istanbul headed to Iran by bike. I should be there in a week. Hopefully it all works out. I'll post on here what happens.

Dear The Dane,
I'll be in cappadocia tomorrow for a few days. Then ill continue east.
I'm worried I won't get my Iranian visa in time for me to be back to work before the end of the month. In which case I'll cruise around turkey for a
Few weeks.
Where abouts are you? Keep an eye out for a place to store a bike inside for a few months where she won't get molested!

got my visa yesterday
Hi,
my Iranian visa was issued at March 20 by the General Consulate in Munich and I got it yesterday. Including mail delivery time the whole process took less than three weeks (without having a reference number). With that visa I can enter Iran until June 18.
I stated "motorbike" im my application and mentioned the border crossing we plan to enter Iran. That didnt seem to be a problem at all. Only negative point: I applied for 6 months and double entry, I got single entry with 30 days. I have to check whether this is a mistake or not.
good luck to you guys at the border.
Bernie

Congrats, but I strongly doubt it's any mistake. The most I saw was 3 months to a Swiss couple trekking there, and they actually did not apply for that long and got it in a breeze (neutral country?).
To us, it took more than 2 months of phone calls to have a 2 month visa. Worth every effort. Enjoy it!

Entered Iran
Hi all,
I entered Iran with no problem at Esendere/Sero. Nobody seemed to be surprised to see a motorcycle at the border and the crossing went smoothly. Of course, visa and Carnet are required.
