Cool Suggestions for 2n hand bike in Peru

Dear all,
Me and my wife are planing to buy a 2nd hand motorbike in Lima (Peru) to travel across Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
I was thinking about a TransAlp or an AfricaTwin, but we have been looking for 2nd hand bikes in the internet but it seems that there is not much over 250cc.

1-What would you suggest for two people and full luggage and a 6 months trip across South America that we could find in Peru? pls no BWM they are far too expensive for our budget.

2-Any suggestions where we could find 2n hand bikes in Lima? We have heard aboud Av. Mexico in distrito Victoria.

Many thanks for your help!!
Toni

A Transalp or an Africa Twin in South America will be expensive as a BMW doesn’t care if is 2nd hand, 3rd or 4th….
For a 2 up travel and full luggage and 6 months trip I would suggest something bigger than over 250cc and even better over a 400cc and single…
For the price of a 650cc and over in Southamerica you can buy a similar bike at home and airfreight it the 2 ways. Enjoy the travel not the troubles…
Posh area in Lima is Miraflores, I’m nearly sure all big bikes in Peru are there…
Also check the kind of Southamerican Ebay Motos 500 cc o ms - MercadoLibre Per
(take care with scams)
Saludos

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
