Women solo trip from Alaska to South America
Hi All
I am currently on a RTW on a 650 dakar and have travelled from Dubai to the UK with a male friend of mine.

Unfortunately, our original plan has gone a bit tits up and we will now go our separate ways. I am flying myself and the bike to Toronto on the 20th August and then plan to ride up to Alaska and then down to South America on my own.

I'm 30 years old, British and although I can ride a bike, I am in no way an expert and have no clue whatsoever about bike maintenance etc! Do you think I'm crazy for doing this on my own, particularly South America?

Does anyone know any other women or websites of women who have travelled this route on their own? Is there anything I should be particularly aware of as a solo traveller (apart from loneliness and letchy men I suppose!)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
