1984 XT 600 stator - I need one!

I need a new stator for my 1984 xt 600 43L. Where do I find one. The dealer wants about $800!! The bike isn't worth that much. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Do you not just find a company that rewinds them ?

Ive had it done twice on other bikes in the UK.

I'm still looking for a stator with the pick up coil - both are bad on mine..... that's where the problem is. I could have my stator rewound, but then the pick up coil is still bad. Let me know if you have a used stator with pick up coil and let me know what the ohm values are for the stator & pick up coil./
Thanks, Baron

The one I have came from a running bike so I am confident that it is 100%.

Where are you???

Hi Tom,

I'm in San Diego, California.
I found a place here that rewinds stators. I'm mailing him my stator. He will check it and the pick up coil. If the stator is bad..... no problem to rewind it, but if the pick up coil is bad, he and I don't know where to get a new one. That would mean I'm stuck! I would think the pick up coil is good.... they either work or don't. I will mail it to him tomorrow. Let me hear from him first. My bike also ran with it's current stator, but it "missed" at higher rpm's. How well did your bike run with the stator you have?
Thanks again,

Baron

The bike ran fine.
Have you checked the carb? Are you sure it's the coils at fault?

If they can't help you the offer is still there.

I'll let you know. I mailed off the stator and am waiting for a reply.
