3aj tank mountings

Hi guys.

Can someone tell me how the 3aj tank mounts to the frame? Im looking at mounting a 3aj dakar tank on my 1vj Tenere and I can see that the mounts on the bak of the tank is the same (or close too it) but what about the front mounts?

maybe some one have a picture that shows the underside of the 3aj tank and can post it here?

thanks!

Tom.

Tank

Different from 1VJ; 3AJ has a bracket on the frame, the tank has two lugs around the bracket. Then, on top of the top frame tube there are two rubber pads that support the tank.
There are two bolts at the back of the tank (as 1VJ that hold everything in place.

Hi,

These 2 links may help you to see as well (Item 34 in the first link). And you can just see 1 of the 2 cups inside the tank (second link).

Hope this helps?

Here are some pics made by me and used in a material that debates the dismantling of the 3 AJ motor from the very very beginning to the end.

You will see this under the saddle :

Under the bars, on the inside of the tank you will see the anchoring points :

Here you can see them after i have taken the tank from the frame :

Hope they are useful.
All the best !

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
