Aftermarket or genuine pistons???
Gday all.
As part of the ongoing saga with my XT, the next step for me is to remove the barrel and get it honed and get new rings for the piston.
I'm considering replacing the piston, just in case the old one has a hairline crack in it (or something similar), which may (or may not) be causing the problems i'm experiencing.
I'm interested to hear from anyone who is using or has used any aftermarket pistons in their XT600, particularly Wiseco pistons.
I was told by my yamaha dealer that the genuine yamaha pistons have a higher silica content compared to the wiseco pistons, meaning that the expansion / contraction properties of the yamaha ones are better, allowing you to run tighter tolerances.
Has anyone experienced any rattling / piston slapping or oil burning when using a wiseco piston (as the tolerances will be larger)?
All thoughts and comments welcome.
Cheers, Dan.
