Case breather and mystery hose
I'm just putting the ancillary parts back onto my 3AJ engine and I've got a couple of questions:
1) Usually the crankcase breather hose channels unburnt fumes from within the crank case back up into the airbox. I'm going to be running without an airbox (using a pair of cone filters) so there's nowhere obvious to route the top end of this hose. Can I just plug this hose up? Can I leave it open to the air or should I use an engine breather filter on it? (was thinking of using a mini one).
2) Underneath and around the starter motor are three connections for hoses. Working from the back of the engine forwards there's the oil hose which connects to the cooler, the breather pipe mentioned above and another mystery connector for a (probably 6mm) hose. Does anyone know what purpose this hose serves? Can I plug it if I'm not using it?
Thanks in advance,
- James
