Fuel Tanks that fit XT600
I've just bought an old (kick only) XT600. It has an enormous, and very unattractive fuel tank. Does anyone know if a smaller tank, like the old XT500 one, will fit?
I want to make the bike lower too. Any tips?
All replies gratefully received. Ta

What model do you have? Ebay.de often has tanks. I know there is a dealer here in Denmark with a 43F tank, but it may be a bit pricey as prices here are generally high. You will probably need a new seat, too.
BTW I am looking for a large tank, let me know if you want to get rid of your tank/seat. If you have a 43F we might be able to arrange a swap?

Hi There
The tank fitted does have one petcock and a screw cap. If I can replace it with something the size of the old XT500 tank, anybody that wants the original one can have it - I dont want it. My problem is that I dont know what will fit. The bike is an import, registered 1983. The tank fits with two rubber bushes either side of the top tube, and is secured by two rubber mounted bolts at the rear. Does this sound like an XT500 tank? I realise that if I fit a smaller tank I will have to have a different seat. Thats no problem.
Thanks to all who replied - Hope this clarifies things. Ta Hobbers
