improve headlights
Hi there,i'm looking to improve the headlights for the xt 600 e,the h4 oem bulb is 55/60 watt and i'd like to fit a 100/90.
I know i have to fit thicker cables for bigger current, but can the original relay and the electric system of the bike handle this extra current for this bulb?
any of you did something similar?
any comments welcome mates

Hi,
Have you looked at using one of the Xenon bulbs offered by most of the bulb companies (Osram, Philips, etc..)?
I have replaced the standard bulbs with these brighter bulbs (and they are a great improvement) without the need to worry about burning the standard wiring out or having to uprate the wiring.
Ciao, Geoff

Hi mates, thanks for replies,as a matter of fact,i have fitted an osram cool blue 55/60 an there was a great improvement in lightning than the standard 55/60 watt, but in the market there are selling bulbs with greater wattage,i know there's an alternative with xenon bulbs but there's an expensive equipment to fit. So, i guess there's an economical choice fitting a bulb with more wattage like 80/100 or so.
Do you know of someone who has done this in an XT 600 ?
Cheers

Hi xt-performer,
You mention "expensive equipment" and I think this would be HID (High Intensity Discharge lighting)? Yes this is expensive.
What Boxer and I were thinking of was a bulb costing about $12, and a 30% improvement over the standard bulb. You just replace the bulb. See this chart for an idea (see the SilverStar line - as you can see it is brighter than the Cool Blue bulb you have already tried):

There's nothing like 100W! I have it for years now and the mere fact that whenever it's dark I have to be in the front of the pack says enough. And I have not modified anything to the wiring etc.
