Strange petrol leak
Hello everyone,
Today, I thought I'd go for a quick ride, so I went to put a few litres in the bike. I pulled into the station, stopped the bike, turned the petrol tap to off as always and filled her up. When finished, petrol back on and kick her up. Nothing, thats not a problem, sometimes I can't start her up the first few times, then I looked down. There was petrol flowing out of the hole thats normally used to empty the float chamber, but not only that, one of the clear tubes that comes down from the carbs was flowing as well, but differently. Petrol would shoot out for a few seconds and then stop, repeating this every 10 seconds. To get home, I screwed up a small part of the ticket I got for the petrol, put it in the hole underneath the float chamber to stem the flow, and with gods help managed to kick the beast into action. The bike is an XT600 43F from 84'. Has anyone any ideas, could it be the floats sticking ? I've not had the time to have a good look at it yet but wondered if anyone had the same problem once over.
Thanks Chris.
