New Bike, New Day
Hi all, just purchased an 06 (56 registered) XT600E. Now I know its likely to be an 03/04 late registered but anyway its about a year old (in terms of use). Now unfortunately its been used as a daily commuter so although its only 1 year old it looks about 3. I did get it for a relatively low(ish) price of £1900. To be entirely honest most of the wear and tear seems to be neglegt and I would be looking to replace all/most of the fittings with stainless anyway (nuts, bolts, break cables etc)
Its done (wait for it) about 10k miles, so its not all bad news.
In fact I am chuffed with it. all it needs is a bit of TLC (or stainless steel as I prefer to call it).
I do have a question about bars though as although the originals have been provided the previous owner has replaced these with Renthal bars. The problem with these for me is that they are a little on the small side 710mm and quite raked back so the overall width is about 3"-4 less than the originals . I feel uncomfortable with them (crimped in) and would like to replace these with a nicer wider set of bars.
Looking at the Renthal website, their are simply too many for my limited brain to understand.
Any suggestions, but I am about 6ft and quite wide at the shoulder so flat(ish) wide(ish) bars would be my preference. I don't need high bars or anything as its not about reach, its more about comfort. Similarly I need to replace the little squat square mirrors as I can only just see my shoulders in these. Any suggestions welcome (as long as it doesn't include anything about removing some of my width
Anyway, 1st post so hello all, and thanks for the lots of useful and interesting reading.
Regards
Dave
