No Neutral light

Hi there, swapped my relays, still no neutral light or power going to starter.

Everything else seems to be in order, but after the neutral light stopped working, I get nothing. It's like I have blown a fuse, but as far as I can see, there is only the one (main) fuse.

Any ideas?

Pete

clutch switch?

Hi.

Do your bike have a switch on the clutch handle ?(right under where the cable goes in). On my Tenere this little thing got stuck and it was the same symptom, no neutral and no starter. disconected looped the wire and the power was back on.
It´s some kind of safety device I suppose.

Could be the fuse

Suggest you check the fuse(s) for continuity; earlier posts on here have shown that just because a fuse looks OK does not mean that it is!

Thereafter, check all of the obvious and simple things first (e.g. connections including the earth) and work through the wiring logically with a multimeter, checking for faults.

Thanks guys, I was going to do away with the clutch and sidestand cutouts, Ive by passed the side stand one already to check it, but the clutch will be next. Do I just take out the clutch switch and join the wires together? One last thing, could a broken neutral light switch coz the same problem? Just while I'm in about the switches anyway, I'll check it.

the bike can start in gear so the neutral switch shouldnt affect it, but the clutch must be in

I changed the neutral sensor at the bottom of the engine some time back and got a problem with the new one: the light flickered and quit at times completely unpredictably. I finally figured out the reason: the copper gasket they sold me (at Yamaha, i.e. OEM stuff) was pretty thick, about 1 mm, while the old gasket was about third of that. Got a thinner one and, voila, all was well again.

I have had one netural switch fail the netural light wont work and the engine wont turn over on the starter.
I have also had the wire that comes from the netural switch break as it gets very hard and brittle again bike would not turn over on starter.

The netural switch is about £14 from Yamaha.
Good luck
