Rack for a '92 xtz660

Hi guys,

I just bought my first allroader, a '92 tenere and I'm quite happy with her (although a lot of people call me crazy for buying such an old motorcycle...)

Anyway, I can't wait to get away on it, but then i still need to get my luggage problem fixed: The soft luggage i own from my previous bike is not compatible with this bike due to the exhaust. And for longer trips i think it may be more interesting and safe to have panniers. I found some great info on making your own panniers on this forum, thanks alexpezzi (and others). This would help to bring the cost down. However, it seems that the racks endure a harder beating than the boxes (at least with the rubber side down) and i would feel safer with a factory made rack.
Are there any suppliers who still make racks for this model? Up till now i haven't found a single one, but maybe i'm just looking in the wrong place...

Thanks!

ask this guy... he can make you anything you want... custom made in stainless steel or just powder coated... tell him what the rack should look like and he makes you one.

the guy is German, but is a bike traveller too and speaks English as well, did a wonderful job for me, perfect welding, way better than the latest CAD designed TT frames.... and he dose ship world wide.

Thanks guys!
I'll see if this German guy can help me out. And if not, at €180 that kedo rack seems to be a reasonable price.

Do you mean this one for about €80?
It is only a top rack and this bike standard has some kind of top rack so i don't think i will be needing this.

The other item here seems more fit to my needs.
And i found some more info about it on the site of hepco and becker : here

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Jochen

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
