Rear tyre width for my new 3TB XT
Will be picking up a 3TB at the weekend. Coming from a 43F I see that I have a smaller, 17" rear wheel.
I am after something knobbly, like a Michelin T63 or a Mitas E09. (I have to say that the T63 on the front of my current 43F suits my needs perfectly and is mightily impressive on the road for what it is).
Anyway - my question. Is there anything I can't fit in a 130 section to the 3TB because it is too wide for the swinging arm?

Hi. I got Mitas C-02 motocross tire, it's 130 width, and there's plenty of room left for the knobbies. I even studded the tire with ~6-7mm spikes, and there's still some room left.

More than 130 don´t fits your bike. I´ve now an Pirelli MT21 130/90- 17. I´ve also mounted T63 in 120 and 130 width

As the original width is 120, you can't go wider than 10 more/less. 110 to 130 is min/max here, or the curvature of the tire tread will be off specifications too much.
So anyway, I fitted MX tire of 130 and there's enough space for spikes too. On the right side there's less room for them, but still enough.

An update from me.
I got some Trellebourg Army Specials in the end. The metric equivalent of the rear is 120/90 so there is plenty of room.
The service from Trellesport in the UK was remarkable. I ordered them at 2:30 last Thursday and they were here at 11:00 Friday morning.
Fresh on today and they feel very odd on the cold, damp roads. A few hundred miles of settling in and I am sure they will be fine.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
