Yes, it is important to give the details about you bike. When it comes to ignitions there are basically two styles. The older models have a CDI, usually kick start and the newer the TCi ignition and can be kick or electric start. Year models vary by country so an exact year is helpful but most important is the model type from your serial number. The CDI types are getting old and the spark they make gets weaker then sometimes intermittent or they are dead. The TCI models, I've never worked on one but understand it, require a good battery to function, dead battery, no spark.
