Suspension upgrade '08 Tenere

Hi Folks,

Before I splash out an arm and a leg on a new rear shock absorber for my '08 Tenere, I thought I'd get recommendations from you learned lot..!

The stock rear suspension feels as saggy as a witches arse and as it's done UK-CT then a new shock is required methinks..? I'd like to do an overland on it with luggage weight (One Up).

Has anyone vastly improved the rear of the '08 Tenere? And with what, a rebuilt shock or a new Ohlins/White Power? Also.... did the front springs comes as progressive as standard?

Thoughts and advice much appreciated before I shell out a pound of flesh for a 'shock' to the wallet! (Boom-Boom!)

Thanks in Advance

I don't know about the Tenere, but when I put a decent Ohlins shock on my Bandit I was apprehensive of spending so much money on just one part. Having done the deed I remain convinced it's the best money you can spend on your bike. Do it, the difference will be incredible.

Hi

The Tenere rear shock if fine ,it's the spring that is weak.

we have had our rear shocks upgraded at Firefox Racing - Motorcycle parts & suspension specialists

They do a excellent job.

Craig had a stronger spring fitted to his 09 Tenere and it improved it immensely.

I had a full rebuild and new stronger spring fitted to my Africa twin and it was only £150.

Thanks

Thanks mate, I've just emailed 'em.

The piston of the shock looks fine, with no leaks etc, but the bike sags, a sort of 'tired' reaction and sits badly. The ride, needless to say is shite around corners! I'll give a newer spring go before I shell out for a new Ohlins.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
