Shock with a new shock!
Greetings,
A little while ago I promised photo's of the rebuild of my 34L "Rascal's Dad". (See "How old is my Tenere?").
But - there is now an issue with the seat height. With the old & knackered Yamaha original rear shock the seat height was a manageable 855 mm (I am a member of the Shortarse Tribe). I bought a superb looking replacement from Hagon (400mm between bolt centres) but with it fitted the seat stands at an eye watering 970mm above terra firma!
The folks at Hagon are looking into the problem but in the meantime does anybody have any similar experiences / solutions?
Many thanks.

Hiya Barba,
Did you get any photographs of the bike?
Referance to seat hieght, I'm sure there is reference to a german sight here on the Hub, for a linkage set up that will lower the hieght of your XT. (just checked and there are dozens to reference) Infact someone here on sight was looking at doing this not so long ago If you google, you will also find several companies claiming to manage the lowering of seat hieghts via the linkage. bear in mind that you will probebly want to change the front set up also, otherwise the whole of the steering will be affected. Infact I think you will find the raising of the rear will have sharppened the steering, IE be more responsive/sharper, which may not be what your looking for paticularly if off roading.I have dropped the forks on my VFR this has sharpened the steering delightfully on that bike, but I'm not sure I would do this to my xt, although, I may experiment once its on the road again.
As I have mentioned, there is reference to suspension here and lots of other places on the internet. Googling even for the Hub should raise the subject for you.
Good luck.

Thanks for your interest & advice Socks.
I had seen Vyxxen's lowering kit advertised before & winced at the cost then too!
I think I will go down the replacement shock route rather than bolt on options.
The search continues ...
