Use semi synthetic oil and ride it like you stole it , give it a good thrashing, load the engine up but dont hold high rev's or high speeds for long and change oil after 200 miles.
If you take it easy the rings wont bed in because after a couple of hundred miles the hone marks dissapear and if the rings havent bedded in by then, You'll either loose power and/or have an engine the uses excessive oil.

thats fine on a multi cylinder engine but these big singles are always under load so tend to bed in quicker anyway.

do you think my front tyres OK, cheap off ebay , i think it could of been on a shelf for a long time, should I be concerned about perished bits

To be honest, I wouldn't be too happy with that tyre. It has started to separate around the tread blocks. I suspect it's been standing around for a long time, possibly in sunlight. It was cheap off ebay for a reason. I wouldn't take the risk, personally - especially if you are in the habit of grounding out the pegs!

I'd change the tire.. it still has some good thread height but I also don't like those cracking on the thread...
You should see the pegs on my DT125R lol

looks more like cold tears to me if there is any sign of cracks on the side walls bin the tyre but if the sides are ok it should be ok for a while just keep an eye on it for any separation of the tread blocks.

Is It Safe To Use A 11.5 To 1 Compression Piston With The Head And Barrel On A 86 .will The Gasket Or Head Bolt Threds Fail With The Shorter Holes?

about the shorted head screws I know nothing...
But why only go with a 11.5:1 when you could go with a JE Piston with 12.5:1 for about the same price?
I'm a little picky in terms of engine internal upgrades... I'd suggest a reinforced conrod and bearings?
