TT600RE – susp. Link -- a question and a tip.
Hi all
I took a look at the link on my 2005 TT600RE since it has not been touched since new.
The link was in better shape than I thought. The bolts were not stuck, but one was starting to corrode. The pin-bearings were well lubricated. Pretty good assembly job I must say, compared to the minimum lube or dry assembly I have seen on some of my jap bikes.
The one bearing I could not check is the one that the shock bolts on to. Since there is only a little play in the bearing, I don’t want to be too brutal. If the bearing is of the “uni-ball” type like on ktm/most Jap MX bikes I’d say it is OK for now.
THE QUESTION …..A uni-Ball bearing or a pin bearing? Is lubrication needed? Should I get a bigger hammer and bang it apart?
THE TIP … The mud flap will rub against the link and grind away. My bike has only 20K km on the clock and the link doesn’t look to good. I am going to apply some JB-weld and create a new wear surface, like I have done on both my KTM’s.
