With much sadness....
Hello all, I've sold my XT600 today. It's been a real nice bike and I've enjoyed it a lot. I've bought a Kawisaki Concours to once more ride the pavement to California and Laguna Seca. I felt that the smaller XT wasn't up to full days of 75MPH on I-5 dodging semis and moron cagers. ...nothing worse than being tailgated at 80MPH with only a 1 car gap, bin thar dun dat !!...
Yes, I may have made a mistake but life rolls on. The chances of getting another XT locally are slim since they're fairly rare here. Not having been sold in Canada for over 10 years. This forum has been a wonderful resource for me and I've appreciated all the thoughtful assistance I've received. This forum is one of the most dedicated I've found.I've been in awe of those of you who have done Africa, you have my respect. Also, I've really appreciated the civility that's been shown here.
I'll check in from time to time and if I do manage to get another XT I'll most certainly know where to go for useful info.
Thank you all,
Doug

Don't go now Doug!
Doug,
I am sure you realise that this website is about much more than your last bike!
Even this particular forum is about more than the XT600 which has not been on sale new since around 2003 - one day you will pitch up on a newer XT660R or XT660Z or a TDM900 derived Super Tenere, or whatever.
In the meantime, there is still the Kawa technical forum in here.......... have a read, make a post!
No matter who they are in this website, most people most of the time are riding on bitumen, just like you.
Cheers,

Doug, Doug, dont be so Sad.
Its Ok Doug, we will still talk to you even if you have sold your XT.
its not JUST XT's on here, although it sometimes seems like it. Its a site for people who like to Travel on Bikes and have Adventures on bikes and generally talk crap errrr tech about bikes.
Is the new owner a HUBB Member or a 'Lurker'? does he even know about the HUBB? Maybe you should introduce him so when things go 'awry' with it we can give him conflicting information and mess with his head.... i mean good advice......

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
