The manual does not show a spacer there. Has any one else come across this? Was this a mod someone did in the past to accomodate another sprocket?

Maybe the PO got a sprocket for the TTR600, they are thinner. But the splines on the counter shaft are the same, so the sprocket fits on the shaft.
