XT Speedo

Hello All,

I have a 03 xt600e(uk bike), The speedometer reads in MPH (smaller KPH marked under in smaller numbers), but the odometer and tripmeter both measure in kilometers, is this the same for all xt`s?.
Just got this one last year, had suzuki dr`s prior to this and they were all mph.

How do you know this, have you measured the distances... you've got me looking at mine now. I think mine are in Imperial units - all the figures seem to confirm this ('02 uk bike):confused1:

Question Speedo

Hello,

I never gave it a thought or noticed it before as i always assumed the odo and trip meter were mph measurements but on a short run last week i knew that i could not have done the amount of miles showing on the tripmeter.
Out of curiosity i travelled a short circular route in the car and measured it at roughly seven and a half miles, same on the bike showed over twelve, so doing the sums and conversion gave me the answer.
Bike odo and trip must be kms, but the speedo in mph. why this would be baffles me so i wondered if anybody else had this.

My hubbys UK 2004 XT600 had the same issue in that the speedo read mph but the odometer was in kms. He swapped the speedo for a km unit. The upside was finding out when he bought it that it had 2000kms on the clock and not 2000 miles.

My UK 2003 XT600 is all in mph, so they are not all the same.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
