XT600 sputtering and quitting when hot only?
Hi all, got a 89 XT600 this spring and it has been running great up till last week (put about 500 miles on so far). I was riding to work last week and all the sudden it started losing power and sputtering, spitting and coughing like it was running out of gas. It bogged down and killed on me but I got it restarted only to have it do it again in 5 minutes. Now it will kick start fine, but after it gets hot (10 or 15 minutes) it does the same thing. I can keep it running and usually get home (barely) by giving it a lot of gas. After about 10 minutes I start it again and it sounds fine. I haven't' done anything recently except had the spark plug changed a month ago when I put on a new tire. It has been in the 90's and humid here, I don't know if that could have anything to do with it (overheating?). Any ideas on what to look for would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would check 2 things. Fuel vaporizing or coil / lead / plug going bad with the heat. Then again I have not worked on a Yahama XT in the last 10 years so take what I say with a grain of salt

Check your routing of fuel line. I fit is to close to the cylinder it will vaporize like mentioned. Start there. Had it happen to me fixed it by zip tying away from engine.
