XT600 top end service
I have just bought an '85 Tenere XT600 1VJ and stripped it of the top end, barrel and piston. It would appear that the noise I thought might be a worn small end is that very thing. However what has surprised me is it has no bearing for the piston pin to run in. The pin is consistent through its length and shows minimal wear, however slops around in the con rod, making me believe that is the worn part. Does this mean a complete crankcase split and new con rod? If so is it worth doing? Is there a mod that saves me doing this?
