XT600 weaving all over the place.
When riding my 92 xt600 wi 21000km on it, when your riding it slow like around 25/40mph it has a kinda wobble,, you CANNOT go in a straight line, it weaves from right to left, the weaving is very strange. but on accelaration, the problem goes away.. but whilst cornering especialy on the right bends,, it feels scary.. the wobble is there again..or a should say weaving..I originaly thought the bike has had a prang, as Ive just bought it. only done 200 miles with it,, but this was very noticeable within the first 5 miles..
just below the headstock on the frame just where you would put the oil, theres seems like its kinda rippled,,its not smooth on the tube frame... 6 inches from the headstock id say just about level with the bottom yoke.
I have also noticed under braking.. it dives to the right, as if the bike is gonna fold in the middle.. its very strange..
I have Mitas tyres on it... the front an rear wheels bearings seem fine.. the shocker is damping ok, the forks are dry,so no leaking.. looking along it when trying to ride at a straight line with someone else riding it,, i noticed that the wheels are out of line with each other... the front looks dead straight whilst the back looks like its not in line with the front. in fact the rear looks like a wee bit of an angle.. but the rear wheel is sitting straight in tehe swinging arm with the chain adjusters...the same number at each side on the axle.
all bearings seem ok, as i said, on accleration, you do NOT feel any weaving, but try going slow,,its a different matter...
I did notice that its not the correct front mudguard, also the headlight has been changed to a round one,,an the wiring is all bodged behind the headlight, an the tanks shrouds are missing. an the tank has a slight dent in it.. with me thinking it may have had a front end shunt at one time. but the last owner o 3 years,,tells me he has never felt anything unduly with it...but I DEFINTALEY feel a weave,, the weave Im talkin about feels as if one of the tyres is twisted,, giving that impression,, but the tyres are ok.... any ideas people...... Thanks,... bama3

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
