XT600e 2003 parts maual
Hello fellow thumpers
I killed my baby (bike) I gave her a wash and now she is dead, no electrics, "I know I should be hung out to dry" and I cannot find the fuse, so after checking the 89 W and 90 EA model's I noticed they vary quit a lot so much so one has a fuse and the other does not, as with the CDI unit. does anybody have the parts manual, I tried to IM "Dakota" cos she on a previous thread she might have one but I am not able to IM her due to being a newbie to this site.

Hi, The fuses on your model are located just behind and internal to the frame down tube as indicated by the yellow dot on your original image. Just remove the side panel and bingo!

Now then, i found two fuses but they are not blown, so i took my battery off tonight and have put it on charge...here's hoping its that, but it was working fine before the "dreaded wash" and i have never heard of shorting out a battery, but hey who knows.
as a matter of interest,... after i washed it and thought it was all dry i turned the key...green light came on and when i pressed the starter i heard a wierd noise like something shorting or battling to ignite "for a better word"
, so immediately cut the power, after a long while in the sun i tried it again, and again the noise so i left it the whole day, and when i tried again later, there was no noise after the green light but now its completely dead...any ideas anyone? Oh and the manual is fantastic, thanks again Dakota.

I hate when that happens. The car wash people with those high pressure sprayers have killed my bike twice, took me about 20-30 minutes each time to get it started. My XT600E runs great, starts easily and I can ride it all day in the rain but for some reason the pressure sprayers can kill it. I will have to quit being lazy and wash it by hand from now on.
BTW, glad you fixed your problem. Not good to be without an XT!
