XT600E lowering options
Hi, this is my first post on this forum and hoping your wealth of experience can help me out.
I'm thinking of buying an XT600E, probably early 90's model, but my problem is i'm very short, petite female, 5ft with an inseam of only 27 inches. So, although i know i can ride the bike, i rode a TDR250 for a few months many years ago but had to practically climb on the bike and hang off at stops, i prefer to not have to do that especially as i want it for off roading which is defo more of a challenge trying to get back on after offing on a slope or whatever.
Anyway, i've searched online about lowering kits but it seems they need adapted and arent just straight bolt ons for this bike, however of course i could be wrong and there are more up-to-date posts which i just havent found.
Also i know a customized rear shock is probably my most viable option with also dropping the forks through the headstock, recommended or bad idea?, along with shaving the seat. More than likely i will have to do all 3 but would like to know if you could recommend companies that are not too expensive, maybe within the 200-350ish euro bracket (i'm based in Barcelona so EU only)
Also dont want smaller 125/250 bikes as i will probably do some touring on the bike therefore this is why i'm interested in the XT, i think it's power, cruising abilities, already low seat height and weight would be better for me. And it looks good I sat on one at the Touratech Event of a kindly camping neighbour and with boots i could just about touch my toes to the ground.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long waffle lol

Going with smaller tires front and back can yield another 13-25mm lower seat height if needed to fine tune it. A smaller rear sprocket or larger front will be needed to bring back the gearing loss with a smaller rear tire.

It seems like you know what you want, i'd be concerned about the weight of the bike, especially when the tarmac ends. Just be cautios

But not high enough, methinks.
Have you tried tying cushions to the seat?

Get a Dominator.
They're lower and make more power. Similar style bike and same price range.
I rode an XT600E all over South America and I now own a couple of Dommies now and I think the Dommy is a better overall bike.
However, the XT600 is still a fine bike..

Just out of curiosity, aren't the Domminators based on the XL / XR platform? And don't they require much more frequent oil changes than the XTs?

No they don't need oil changes any sooner, the oil will be burnt up long before it gets old and will be replaced by constant top-offs by then.but you do have to want to own a Honda .
