Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Cost above is for 2 bikes, a KTM 640E & a Kawasaki KL250. The bikes were packed by us, front wheels & handlebars off, into 2 steel crates (from the local moto shop) the 2 crates bolted together to make 1 crate, 2.5m3, 350kg. The bikes flew as dangerous goods with the fuel systems drained & batteries disconnected.
There was a delay as the airline used, Qantas, lost the carnets that were sent ahead with the bikes so they could be cleared before we arrived. New carnets had to be issued in NZ & sent over, Go Logistics did a great job of helping to get the problem sorted ASAP.
We were able to uncrate the bikes at the warehouse of Go Logistic's Sydney agent, All Cargo, & store the crate there for $65 for 5 weeks.

Bike started in DC and was kindly transported down to Florida by a friend in the back of a pick up truck. Stefan Knopf handled all shipping logistics from there. It was shipped by sea from Orlando to Stefan's storage facility in Heidelberg Germany. Took about 5 weeks to ship. Stefan did a great job explaining the process and keep me posted on the status. Altogether a very good deal and experience.

Rode our bike a BMW 1150 GS Adventure from Singapore ,Malaysia, Thailand, Laos back to Thailand and decided to ship the bike back home instead following our original plan ( Nepal-India-Pak-Iran-Turkey back to Holland) due to the increased problems in Pak after the massacre in Mumbai. We did that trip already once the other way around with a landrover so we knew what to expect. On our way through Thailand we passed Bangkok and since a motorbike is not allowed on the tollroads around BKK we know now how much time it takes to cross BKK right through the centre and we did not like a second expierience so we visited Schenker in Chiang Mai. Within 5 min we had a quote including crating and trucking to BKK. Overall costs 32000 Thai Baht to Hamburg. Chiang Mai Side. 1st visit to measure the bike 2nd visit to crate the bike in our presence to be sure no unwanted things like drugs are involved. (one hour) We had our carnet stamped on the Laos/Thai border but BKK customs refuse give an ewxit stamp and deliver their own papers. When you decide to ship the bike from BKK do not use your carnet on entry. Takes a little bit longer and 200Thai Baht for their own ""simplified customs declaration form"" wich you get free when you use the carnet. This simplified custom form is necessary for export. Hamburg Side Visit Schenkeroffice and pay harbour dues (€ 185) and get delivery order. Go to the port and collect the bike. I used car and trailer to bring the bike to Holland. German customs at the gate wanted to inspect the bike but I showed a photograph of the crating and told them that the dutch customs should stamp my carnet and asked to leave the crate in one piece in order to transport it safe to my house (200km from Hamburg) No problem sir (in german) was the answer. Why not to Rotterdam 1e distance home/Rotterdam and Home Hamburg about same 2e previous shippings to Rotterdam not so costfriendly

English speaking team, very helpful and good at keeping us updated.
We rode the bike to Port Klang where the bike was left for crating, saving a few $. Then Alvin put us in touch with the recieving agents at Istambul, Unimar. On arrival we had to pay local charges here plus a customs brokers fee another just under $2000, including shipping, total, would consider air and not wait a month for the bike to be delivered!. It would have been impossable to deal with the customs not speaking Turkish.

$ 1005 US
