The HU Shipping Database!
From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.
For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.
If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:
Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.
Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!
NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.
Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

We shipped one bike, an Africa Twin. Kittima, the Boss of the Company knows a lot but she isn't perfect. So we are between happy and angry.
They offer you all services but it took to much time.
They always need roundabout 2 weeks for clearing the paperwork.
The man who builds the crate for us is also from Kittima, and he builds the crate much too big, so we pay much more money then we normally have to. :-((( It wasn't enough time to change the crate, so bad luck for us. That is really SH.. because we ordered a definite crate in a definite size from our experiences before.
Dangerous goods (Kittima-Style): You have to remove all the oil. (She meant fuel and we left 3 li. in, without let her know this...), you have to remove the spark-plugs (in the end we disconnected the cable), you have to remove the batterie and take it with you (in the end we disconnected the cables only).
Kittima made silly things with our Carnet. She told us that we have to have an importstamp in our carnet. But Thailand is not a Carnet-Country.... So she want to organize this "very, very important importstamp", 2 days later she proudly present us an exportstamp, without importstamp!!!! Big SH.. , now we don't get an importstamp in our papers. After that she doesn't want talk about her mistake and just said: "Oh, if you want to have an importstamp you have to drive back to your Entryborder. I can't organize this." Thank you very much!!!
That are all the bad things.
---------
But there are some goods also:
The service was good: We never have to go to the airport. We only have to visit here 3 times. She organize (nearly) everything. And she is very reliable in contacts. She answer mails all the time directly and confirmed all appointements.
Obviously, she must have really good contacts, because after we crated the bike it wouldn't open again. No inspection of custom, no inspection of Dangerous Goods... But paperwork is all done, now.....
The Crate-Builder was really good. He builds a lightweight but very, very strong crate. Much to big, but very good.
If!!you plan to make your transport with this company, here are some advice:
1. When you enter the country, try to get a importstamp into your carnet and the white importpaper. Save you a lot of trouble...
2. Plan a bit more time for crating, otherwise you meaby get a much to bigger crate like we.
So enough I think; here I copied her final bill:

At the cargo-airport in Kathmandu:
1. First you have to go to the international airport to get a delivery order. Then to the cargo.
2. Don't trust the agent there, they will really heavy overcharge you. Do it by yourself, it is easy and the officials are nice.
3. Don't believe the depot workers. They try to get a "handling fee", from 2 Rupee per Kilo. That is not true. A little Bakschisch from 1-2 $ will also help doing the job.
It was pretty easy. We paid all together about 15$, and get it there in 2hours.

Shipment: From Brisbane, Australia to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - July, 2006
I bought a Harley Davidson crate from the dealer in Brisbane ($160 au) and packed the bike myself. A 98 BMW F650 fits nicely with only the mirrors and windscreen removed. Room left over to fit in the Touratech topbox and 1 pannier too. Delivered the crated bike to Hellmanns myself and picked it up at KL cargo in Malaysia the following week. Malaysian end was very easy, carnet stamped with no problem and cost me $79 rm to get the bike from MasKargo. Uncrated the bike there and was told I could just leave the crate (not sure how right that was but rode off with it still sitting there ) All hassle free
Shipment: From Los Angeles, United States to Melbourne, Australia - July, 2006

My bike's an 1150GS Adventure. I had used Yusen originally to airfreight from Melbourne to USA (AUD$3377 in total, which included a truck to the airport from Southbank, all of the dangerous goods surcharges and the extra cost for removal/disposal of the crate). On the way home, I opted for sea freight. Again, the bike needed to be crated and I was lucky to be given a used steel crate by BMW San Diego at very short notice. (Thanks guys!)
I rented a U-Haul truck to get the crate and bike to Yusen's depot in Torrance, and then packed it while Sean watched. The whole operation only took a couple of hours, including all the paperwork, which was easy. (I spent a whole weekend cleaning the bike before I took it to Yusen. It still wasn't perfect, but pretty good considering it's year on the road.)
The bike arrived in Melbourne a little over three weeks later. (Melbourne contact is Maria Casey, email m-ca...@yusen.com.au)
Maria handled the quarantine clearance etc., and I unpacked the crate and reassembled the bike in the warehouse which is near Tullamarine airport. Again, an hour or so and I was outta there. Payment was COD before I rode the bike away, but it was all very easy and pain-free at both ends. No extra surprises or add-on costs. No charge to dispose of the crate, or store it for a few days while I decide what to do with it.

I used my steel crate which i used before with a volume of 1,27 cbm. Once the crate was at APEX i had to wait 30 min. to get all the paperwork. Make sure you have made a packinglist(of goods in the crate) and that you have an adress in Barcelona(to put on BOL).I paid 298NZ$(=148Euro). Then to the customs to clear the bike(carnet stamped). They didn't need to see the bike.
I delivered the crate on Wednesday and the boat leaves on a saturday(from Tauranga). In Singapore they reload the containers and once it leaves there you'll know the exect arriving date. It took about 6,5 weeks before it arrived in Barcelona. 2 days later i could get the bike.
In Barcelona the companies take a 'siesta' in the afternoon(from 13.00-15.30). And the Customs only work in the morning(from 9-14.00)!! I had to go to the Sea Customs and later to some Land Customs. Then i went to the agent IFS where i paid my fees. After that again to some other warehouse to pick up the bike.
They just putted the crate on the street(dead-end street), so i was able to put everything back together to ride away.
Adress of agent in Barcelona:
I.F.S. International Forwarding S.L.
Carrer d'Arctic 122-124
08040 Barcelona
Tel. 34 93 262 55 00
Fax. 34 93 262 33 02
Cost in Barcelona: 190,2Euro
I was really surprised that it was more than the shipping itself.I know you have to pay fees but a warehouse handling fee of 88Euro is quite expensive in my opinion.
Anyway, if you add it all up it is still cheap:
148Euro (NZ side) + 190Euro (Spain side)= 338Euro total.
Cheers.
